My Favorite Dictation Apps as of December 2025

AI dictation apps have drastically improved in the last year. In many work sessions, I use my voice more than typing—it’s easier to get thoughts out of my head by speaking than writing. These are my favorites.

macOS

MacWhisper handles individual files, batch transcription with both local and cloud models, and dictation. Speaker recognition works well, so I often use it to transcribe call recordings and assign speakers.

Monologue by Every is my daily driver for dictation. I have Wispr Flow as a backup, but I barely use it.

iOS

On my phone, I mostly use Epiphany because it has configurable custom actions and webhooks. I can record something and append it to my daily log, save it to a Notion database, email it to myself or someone else, post it in a Slack channel, and more.
